SPAIN
A
country visited by many different civilizations over the centuries thus creating
the
unique hospitality of the Spanish people. It is a land of great geographical
contrasts
between the cold north and the south, warm and welcoming. Crossed by mountain
ranges and open plains, the country is a paragliders paradise.
Rich
in traditions, folklore and gastronomy, much of which dates from the Moorish
times, with incredible areas for other sports like mountaineering, skiing, sailing,
diving
and golf, etc. The old towns and monuments are all worth visiting, and of course
the
excellent wines are there to enjoy.
Granada-Sierra
Nevada
250.000 habitants .This
city is one hour away from the sea and 40 minutes from the
snow. Our songs call it a dreamland, for which the last Moorish king, Boabdil,
cried
when he was expelled by their catholic majesties, Fernando and Isabel.
The flying sites adjacent to Granada are of such quality that they have already
hosted, with great success, two world championships and various national
competitions. After a hard days flying you can sample the citys
nightlife. :-D
Motril
50.000
habitants. Called the Sweetland because of the sugar cane grown
here. This
is the location of our main base, 5 minutes from the harbour and the best sea
food available along the coast. Also it is 5 minutes from our private hill that
overlooks the
sea. Here you can soar for hours and not be bother by hords of visiting flyers
because
it is a private site. Let yourself be swept away and come to fly on the Costa
Tropical
with its special microclimate averaging 20*C, where you can swim, snorkel or
windsurf whilst looking at the snow on the Sierra Nevada mountain range.
Alfacar
2500
habitants. A nightingale was killed between Viznar and Alfacar.
This is a referance to Federico García Lorca who was one of the greatest
poets ever produced by this land. Regretably he was executed just outside Alfacar
during the turmoil of the Civil War by those that had no time for artists. However,
this lovely village is now a haven for artists of many disciplines. It is also
famous throughout Andalucia for its bakers. The excellence of their bread is
due to the quality of the local water, enhanced, it is said, by the tears of
the murdered poet. A strange fable because the Moors, six hundred years ago,
also liked the water. They considered it to be so good that they piped it by
aquaduct from Alfacar to Granada ! Despite this, flying here is an experience
that you will not forget and is of a quality you are unlikely to repeat.
